10.6.7 Drive initialization feature

The drive initialization feature initializes the configuration information of an HDD that was used in RAID1,
effectively creating a new HDD. Use this feature in the following cases:
•
You are reusing an HDD that was used as a backup HDD.
•
You are reusing a normal HDD that was set to offline by mistake.
•
You are reusing an HDD that was set to offline by the RAS software for evaluating the equipment.
NOTE
• If an HDD is reused by using the drive initialization feature in a state that is not described in this manual, the
system might not be recoverable or might not operate correctly even after recovery.
• An HDD that was automatically set to offline by the equipment might be defective. Do not use the drive
initialization feature for such HDDs.
