SPECIFICATIONS AND MAINTENANCE DATA

SPECIFICATIONS

The 6X1 Dual Station System differs from a
conventional single-station control in the fol-
lowing ways:
In a conventional outboard control, cables
connect directly from the remote control to
the engine (or both engines in a dual
engine rig).
In the Dual Station System, two remote
control stations connect first to a junction
box.
The SHIFT control for both remote con-
trols is by cable to the junction box.
However, an electrical signal from the
junction box then controls the servo in the
dual-station actuator to shift the engine by
a separate cable. Emergency manual shift-
ing of the actuator is possible in case of
electrical failure.
The THROTTLE control for both stations
go to the junction box. Then one set of
cables control the throttle on the engine.

MAINTENANCE DATA

Frequency of maintenance operations may be
adjusted according to the operating conditions,
but the following table gives general guidelines.
The mark ( ) indicates the check-ups which
you may carry out yourself.
The mark (O) indicates work to be carried out
by your Yamaha dealer.

There is an automatic interlock which pre-
vents one control from being used while
the other is in use.
The engine can be started from either sta-
tion as long as the key is on at the lower
station. There is no choke control on the
upper station, however, if the engine
requires manual choke control. The engine
can be stopped from either station by
pushing the stop switch or by pulling the
engine stop switch lanyard.
If the dual station system malfunctions, the
dual station system responds by sounding
the buzzer in the remote control and, if
over a certain engine speed, by reducing
engine rpm.
There is a shift cut system that reduces
engine speed to below 1,000 rpm during
shifting to make shifting easier.

REPLACEMENT PARTS

If replacement parts are necessary, use only
genuine Yamaha parts or equivalents of the
same type and of equivalent strength and
materials. Any part of inferior quality may mal-
function, and the resulting loss of control could
endanger the operator and passengers.
