Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001
FUEL MANAGEMENT GAUGE
(Input for MPG from GPS or Multifunction
Speedometer)
The fuel management gauge can receive data
from either a GPS or the multifunction speedome-
ter. It cannot be hooked to both. This option has
been available since 1998. The same signal lead
part #6Y5-87122-S0-00 is used for either applica-
tion. If you are using input from the multifunction
speedometer no modification is required to the
lead. If you are using the GPS for the input signal,
modification will be required which is explained
below.

Modification Procedure
1. Cut off three prong connector.
2. Remove the black plug and install it on the
speedometer to plug the hole in the back of
the gauge.
3. The white wire is the signal lead which needs
to be connected to the NMEA 0183 output
lead of the GPS unit.
NOTE: All GPS units utilize different harnesses,
terminals and color codes on the output signal.
Always connect the white wire to whatever the
GPS manufacturer recommends. Do Not Use Red
and Black wires.
Try and keep the wire length to a minimum. Long
lengths could affect the operation of the system.
If the cable length needs extending, use coaxial
cable.
