TESTING THROTTLE OPERATION

When testing the throttle operation, use two people. With the engine off, the main switch off and the
lanyard removed, position one person at the engine with the cowling removed to observe throttle
movement to verify correct operation. The second person should operate the controls.
1.
Operate the first station in the following sequence and observe operation:
1) Shift to forward and move the lever to full throttle.
2) Shift to neutral and check to see that the throttle returns to the idle position at the engine.
3) Shift to reverse and open throttle part way.
4) Shift to neutral and check to see that the throttle returns to the idle position at the engine.

If incorrect operation is observed, make adjustments in the motor throttle cable end at
the outboard motor.

Operate the second station in the following sequence and observe operation:
1) Shift to forward and move the lever to full throttle.
2) Shift to neutral and check to see that the throttle returns to the idle position at the engine.
3) Shift to reverse and open throttle part way.
4) Shift to neutral and check to see that the throttle returns to the idle position at the engine.

If incorrect is observed at the upper station, while the lower station is operating cor-
rectly, make adjustments in the upper remote control throttle cable at the junction unit.
WARNING
Insure that the engine throttle cable returns to idle whenever the control is returned to neu-
tral. If necessary, make adjustments in the motor throttle cable end adjustment.
5.
Again operate the first station and repeat until correct operation is obtained.
