The neutral switch on 1998 and prior gear drive
tractors is located on the upper shift linkage (Figure
240).

Purpose

Used to ensure the transmission is in neutral when
starting the unit. It is activated when the brake pedal is
depressed.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS

Location

The neutral switch - plunger type - is located under the
seat and fender area of the tractor on the right side of
the transaxle (Figure 242).

How it Works

This double pole plunger type switch has four terminals
(Figure 243). When the brake pedal is depressed, it
pulls an arm that pushes on the plunger of the switch,
closing the contacts, and connecting the four terminals.
