14. Finally, perform a Cold Start on the MX 500 unit by powering
it OFF, pressing and holding down the CLR key, and powering
it back on.
(Release the 'CLR' key after the unit is powered back on.)

Using USB port:

Tools, cables and software needed:
· 12-pin power cable
· DC power supply 12-24 VDC
· One (1) USB device (i.e. USB flash drive)
(Refer to page 241 for hardware compatibility list)
· PC or laptop with Windows xx and a USB port
· *.bin file – the program itself
Procedure:
1. Insert your USB device into a PC or laptop.
2. Format the USB device using FAT32 file system. Refer
to page 240 for instructions of how to format.
3. Download the MX500.bin file (the program itself) from the BNT-
ME website and save it onto your USB device.
(Note: Do not rename the file. The filename should remain as
"MX500" in uppercase.)
4. Safely remove your USB device from the PC or laptop.
5. Power off the MX 500 CDU.
6. Insert your USB device into the USB port of the MX 500.
7. Press and hold down the NAV button on the MX 500 unit and
power ON the unit.
(Release the 'NAV' key after the unit is powered on.)
8. MX 500 CDU will now bring up the MX 500 Software
Bootloader.
9. Please allow a few moments for the MX 500 Software
Bootloader to detect and mount your USB device.
10. After the USB device is successfully mounted, the software
bootloader will copy the program to RAM.
