Memory Backup Battery

The internal real time clock and memory which stores the waypoints,
alarm limits, etc., is backed up by a lithium battery. The expected life
time is 2 years at 21° C, but this is based on the temperature the navi-
gator is stored at when not in use. The higher the temperature, the
shorter the life and vice versa.

Backup Battery Replacement

Marine electronics dealers or radio supply stores will typically stock the
replacement battery, Type TL-5902, 3.6 V (1/2 AA) Lithium battery.
The battery is mounted in a socket located on the MX 500 processor
board. BNT-ME recommends this service to be done by a qualified
service technician.
MX 500 PC Interface
The MX 500 data ports 1 & 2 are both RS-422 type data interface. If
you need to connect the MX 500 to a PC we recommend using an RS-
422 to RS-232 converter as shown below.
