Connecting to the RS232 Port

An RS232 port is provided to connect an external modem for remote monitoring,
configuration and software upgrades, and to connect a remote control keyboard. Use
a modem cable with a DB-9S (female) connector to connect to the DVR. See
Configuration
Rev 3.01
Do NOT connect the SCSI device while the SCSI DVR power is on.
The DVR must be powered down to connect the SCSI device and
powered up again after the SCSI device has been connected.
Power up the SCSI device so it is ready for operation in advance
of powering up the DVR.
If the SCSI device is shut down while the device is operating, the
DVR system may not work normally.

Note
The DVR is not supplied with a modem cable, and many
modems are not supplied with cables. Make certain you have the
correct cable when purchasing the modem.
