Chapter 2 Staging Preparations

Set Up Environment Variables

Before you can stage devices, you must first set the environment variables for your
DNCS in the /export/home/dncs/.profile file. Setting the environment variables lets
you configure your system to support a staging option. If you are using the instant
hit method, the Fast Refresh List method, or instastaging to stage devices, you must
set the environment variables properly. Otherwise, the DNCS will not operate as
expected.
Note: The default staging configuration supports the DHCTModifyConfiguration
transaction and does not need you to set an environmental variable.
Setting Environment Variables for Instant Hit
Note: You should be familiar with using the UNIX vi editor before attempting this
procedure.
1
Use the UNIX vi text editor to open the /export/home/dncs/.profile file.
2
Does the .profile file contain the export CAM_ STAGE _INSTANT_HIT=1 line?
If yes, close the file; you are finished with this procedure.
If no, go to step 3.
3
Use the editor to add the following command to any blank line in the file:
export CAM_STAGE_INSTANT_HIT =1
4
Save and close the file.
