Tip: To reduce the effects of friction, lubricate the
finger rollers with way oil before operation.

Locks
The carriage, cross slide, and compound rest
have locks (see Figure 57) that can be tightened
to provide additional rigidity during operation.

Compound Rest
The compound rest is used to move the tool
toward and away from the workpiece at the preset
angle of the compound rest. The base of the com-
pound rest has graduated scale used for setting
the cutting tool to a specific angle.
Graduated Dial

One Full Revolution ........................0.200" (5mm)

To set compound rest at a certain angle:

Loosen two hex nuts at base of compound
rest (see Figure 58).
