4. Spark plug cap
• Remove the spark plug cap.
• Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1k) to the
spark plug.
Tester positive lead →
Tester negative lead →
Spark plug lead end 2
Spark plug cap resistance:
3.8 ~ 6.3 kΩ at 20 °C (68 °F)
5. TCI unit coil resistance
• Remove the TCI unit.
1) Primary coil resistance
• Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) to the
primary terminal.
Tester positive lead →
Black/White terminal 1
Tester negative lead → Core 2
Primary coil resistance:
0.5 Ω ± 20% at 20 °C (68 °F)

IGNITION SYSTEM
NOTE:
• Do not pull out the plug cap from the spark
plug lead.
• Remove → Turn the plug cap counterclock-
wise.
• Install → Turn the plug cap clockwise.
• Inspect the spark plug lead for cracks or
deterioration when installing the pug cap.
• Cut 5 mm off the end of the spark plug lead,
and then connect it to the plug cap.
OUT OF SPECIFICATION
Replace the spark plug cap.
