As shown in
AI3P2 input groups to be propagated to the grouped output AI3P (multiplexer functionality). This
output contains both the instantaneous samples and the RMS values of the selected input group.
The outputs AI1, AI2, AI3 and AIN contain instantaneous samples of phase L1, phase L2, phase L3,
and neutral, respectively, of the selected analog input signals group; for example, for direct
connection to the disturbance recorder.
The 3PHSELECT function typically receives inputs from SMAI function block. When either of the
inputs of the corresponding SMAI function block are not connected to an analog channel (either of
the phases is left unconnected), the output of the corresponding unconnected phase is zero. When
one or more inputs are unconnected, the 3PHSELECT function outputs the corresponding sample
and RMS values as zero. When the selected input group is totally unconnected, the 3PHSELECT
function sends the corresponding group outputs as zero.
As InputSelect is setting-groups enabled, it can be changed dynamically during operation based on
system conditions (for example, status of other switches in the substation). This is important, for
example, in a 1½ breakers arrangement, where either side of the middle breaker is potentially the
source side or the load side, to select the appropriate busbar voltage as reference signal.
14.12.6.2

Blocking logic

As the two input signal groups are not necessarily in sync with each other, the 3PHSELECT function
provides the BLOCKOUT output, which is specifically intended to block other application functions
during the time required for re-synchronizing to the respective source. This output goes high for a
user-settable time-period (BlockTime) whenever the InputSelect setting is changed. If InputSelect is
changed again before the BlockTime expires, BLOCKOUT is retriggered so that the output is high for
BlockTime from the latest change of InputSelect.
The input BLKFUNC is used to block all the outputs of the function whenever it is set by the user. All
analog outputs are forced to 0.0 values. The same result is achieved by setting Operation to "Off".
