3.2 Installing the iBAT

Procedure
Step 1 Open the battery string switch. Connect the positive and negative iBAT cables respectively to
the positive and negative wiring terminals or poles of the battery.

 The battery appearance is for reference only.
 In the left figure, the iBAT is installed on the top of a battery. In the right figure, the iBAT is
installed on the side of a battery.
Voltages on the iBAT cables are hazardous. Therefore, wear insulation gloves when
performing operations on the cables.
The red terminal is positive, and the black terminal is negative. Connect battery terminals
correctly.
Check that there is no dust on the battery surface before attaching the iBAT fastener to the
battery.
Ensure that terminals are visible when installing the iBAT.
Do not install the iBAT on the exhaust valve of the valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA)
battery.
If you want to connect iBATs in parallel, install the iBATs after collecting iBAT SN
information and installing cables.
Do not power on the iBAT before connecting the battery to the system.
After the product is installed, if the battery is not charged for more than 30 days, you are
advised to remove the iBAT from the battery cables.
The methods of installing an iBAT on the side and top of a battery are the same. The
following describes how to install an iBAT on the top of a battery.
