Y.1731 loss measurement functionality is implemented in software so the accuracy
will be less. Since loss measurement is implemented in software additional data
frames get transmitted and/or received between the time of reading the counter
values and adding the frame with ETH-LM information to the data stream, the
counter values copied in ETH-LM information become inaccurate. ETH-LM is
applicable only to down MEPs and as per the recommendation transparent to MIPs.

8.9 Y1731 proactive performance monitoring

Y1731 proactive performance monitoring feature monitors network operations using
following OAM functions continuously:

Y1731 performance monitoring will collect loss/delay over 96 previous 15min interval
and 7 previous day. It also maintains one current 15min interval and day record. This
collected history information can be queried by either the CLI or a management
system.
8.9.1
The operator specifies the domain, association, mep and session id with create
keyword. The system will create an Y1731 PM session if there is no session already
available with provided key.
The operator can specify the following parameters:

Single-ended LM tests cannot be enabled on a MEP where Y1731 PM is not
enabled.
Single-ended LM tests cannot be enabled on a MEP where Y1731 LM dot1p
priority is not enabled.
More than one single-ended LM tests cannot be enabled on a MEP
simultaneously.

Create Y1731 proactive session

Type
The operator can specify type of the Y1731 PM test which include none,single
ended loss (LM),two way delay (DM) or two way slm (SLM). Default type will be
none.
Mac-address
The operator can specify the unicast peer MAC address for which Y1731PM
session need to be run. Default MAC address will be NULL.
