Chapter 9: Troubleshooting
The test time is 4 minutes and 50 seconds. At the end of this time frame, the measured temperature
value appears.
N
:
After the test is started, the Heater button becomes inactive to allow the thermal control system to
OTE
complete its heating and cooling cycle. If the Back button is pressed while the heater is heating, the fan
will not cool it down and the heater will be slow to cool. To quickly cool the heater, access the Diagnostics
menu and press the Heater button again to activate the fan.

Heater Testing Criteria

Heating Phase — The heating phase lasts 130 seconds, after which the heater reaches its target
temperature of 355° ±5°C. A message indicating the actual heater temperature and results of the test is
shown on the screen.
N
:
The 355° ±5° temperature is an indirect measurement of a controlled reactor temperature. This control
OTE
point has been demonstrated to achieve a reactor temperature of 375° C necessary to create
supercritical water in the Analyzer's sample flow path. For additional information on the Analyzer's
sample flow path, see
Holding Phase — The heater maintains the set temperature for an additional 50 seconds.
Cooling Phase — At 180 seconds, the cooling fan comes on and remains on for 110 seconds. After
which, a message indicating the heater temperature and test results appears, the timer resets to zero,
and the Heater button becomes active again.
