Replacing the Peristaltic Pump Head Tubing

The Analyzer has two peristaltic pump heads: one in the Sample Handling module and one in the Reactor
module. The operating life of the pump head tubing is shown on the Analyzer's Main screen and on the
Consumables screen.

This information pertains strictly to the peristaltic pumps (P1-R and P1-SH), and should not be confused
OTE
with the maintenance schedule for the multi-stream, exterior sample pump located on the outside of
the instrument.
To replace the P1-SH or P1-R peristaltic pump-head tubing
Wear eye protection and gloves when performing this task.

Shut down the Analyzer via the on-screen menu (Maintenance

Wait for the display to turn off, and then off power to the Analyzer using the main power switch on the
side of the Analyzer.
3.
Open the door of the Analyzer.
4.
Disconnect the ends of the old pump-head tubing from the waste line and the sample inlet. (If
additional room is needed for maneuvering, first remove the pump head by taking out its two screws.)
5.
Pull open the lever located on the edge of the pump head to release the old tubing.
6.
Install the new tubing through the pump head, as shown.

7.
Close the pump-head lever to secure the tubing.
8.
Connect the ends of the new tubing, as follows:
• P1-SH Pump Head — The tubing on top connects to the waste line and the tubing on the bottom
connects to the sample inlet line.
• P1-R Pump Head — The tubing on the left connects to the waste line and the right connects to the
sample inlet line.
