Description

Overview
The Prisma II optical network is an advanced transmission system designed to
optimize network architectures and increase reliability, scalability, and cost
effectiveness. The Prisma II Optical Amplifiers deliver both analog and digital
signals. Microprocessor control allows ease of installation and flexibility of
application.
This product may come configured as a single, double, or triple-wide module.
Features
The Prisma II Optical Amplifier has the following features:
• Front panel green light emitting diode (LED) to indicate operating status
• Front panel red LED to indicate alarm status
• Optical input/output connectors
• Plug-and-play capability
• Compatible with Intelligent Communications Interface Module (ICIM), Local Craft
Interface (LCI) software, and Transmission Networks Control System (TNCS)
software
Optical Amplifier Operation
Operating over a wide range of input powers from a Prisma II 1550 nm Transmitter
or another 1550 nm Optical Amplifier upstream, the amplifier modules provide
high-performance transmission of voice, video, and data signals for optical
networking.
Depending on the system you ordered, the system may consist of a single amplifier
module or a configurable system made up of one pre-amplifier module and one
post-amplifier module. Both single modules and post-amplifier modules may be
configured with various output port and power output options. Additional post-
amplifier modules can be added to the configurable system.
The module is controlled by an ICIM, the LCI software, or the TNCS software.
Optical Output
Depending on how you ordered your system, the optical input and output
connectors may either be an SC/APC, FC/APC, or E2000/APC.
WARNING:
Avoid damage to your eyes! Do not look into any optical connector while the
system is active. Even if the unit is off, there may still be hazardous optical
levels present.
