5. Configure the Radio Settings. Connecting a new radio shipped
from the factory to a PC via the Ethernet connector, causes the
built-in Device Manager to launch automatically and starts the
Basic Setup Wizard. The wizard steps you through the essential
radio settings in a quick, and streamlined, way. The wizard contains
settings for:
• TX/RX Operating Frequencies
• Power
• Mode
• Modem Type
• Serial Port Configuration
• Ethernet Bridging
• Encryption
• AP or Remote Service
Detailed steps for starting configuration of the radio are presented in
"Initial Configuration" on Page 26.

5.1 Initial Configuration

This section describes setup of the radio for its first on-air operation. A
full description of operating settings is given in Section 6.0.

Web-Based Management

The SD Device Manager is the recommended method for user manage-
ment. It is a built-in software tool that works with your PC's browser to
provide an intuitive, web-style presentation of all radio information, set-
tings, and diagnostics.
The Device Manager also contains a "wizard" function to assist in set-
ting up a radio with a minimum of user actions. Web management uses
the radio's
RJ-45 connector. Instructions for connecting via
ETHERNET
a web browser are given below.
NOTE: Web access must be enabled via the Device Security Screen
before using this feature. This is the default setting on a factory
shipped new radio. If changes are needed, see your Network
Administrator, or check/activate by logging into the Device
Security Screen.
