Fan Motor Test
Thermostat Test
1. Disconnect the 2P connectors f r o m the radiator fan
m o t o r (A) and A/C condenser fan motor (B).
T e r m i n a l side of
male t e r m i n a l s
2. Test the m o t o r by connecting battery power to the
B terminal and g r o u n d to the A t e r m i n a l .
3. If the m o t o r fails to run or does not run s m o o t h l y ,
replace it.
Replace the thermostat if it is open at r o o m
temperature.
To test a closed thermostat:
1. Suspend the thermostat (A) in a container of water.
Do not let the t h e r m o m e t e r (B) touch the bottom of
the hot container.
2. Heat the water and check the temperature w i t h a
t h e r m o m e t e r . Check the temperature at w h i c h the
thermostat first opens, and at w h i c h it is fully open.
3. Measure the lift height of the thermostat w h e n it is
fully open.
Standard Thermostat
Lift Height:
Above 10.0 mm (0.39 in.)
Starts Opening: 1 6 9 - 1 7 6 °F ( 7 6 - 8 0 °C)
Fully Open:
1 9 4 ° F ( 9 0 ° C )
