Cylinder Head Cover Installation

13. Connect the three injector connectors, VTEC
solenoid valve connector, and VTEC oil pressure
switch connector to the rear cylinder head.
14. Install the three ignition coils f r o m the rear cylinder
head (see page 4-22).
15. Install the intake m a n i f o l d (see page 9-5).
16. Install the right front strut bar (A), then install the
harness clamp (B) and accelerator pedal position
(APP) sensor m o u n t i n g bolt (C).
8 x 1.25 mm
A 22 N-m
12 N-m
(1.2 kgf-m, 8.7 Ibfft)
17. Install the passenger's cowl cover (see page
20-113).
18. Install the right side w i n d s h i e l d w i p e r arm
(see page 22-221).
19. After assembly, w a i t at least 30 minutes before
filling the engine w i t h oil.
Cylinder Head Removal
NOTE:
• Use fender covers to avoid d a m a g i n g painted
surfaces.
• To avoid d a m a g i n g the w i r e s and terminals, unplug
the w i r i n g connectors carefully w h i l e holding the
connector portion.
• To avoid d a m a g i n g the cylinder head, wait until the
engine coolant temperature drops b e l o w 100 °F
(38 °C) before loosening the cylinder head bolts.
• Mark all w i r i n g and hoses t o avoid misconnection.
Also, be sure that they do not contact other w i r i n g or
hoses, or interfere w i t h other parts.
1. Relieve the fuel pressure (see page 11-354).
2. Drain the engine coolant (see page 10-6).
3. Remove the A/C comprssor belt (see page 21-100).
4. Remove the t i m i n g belt (see page 6-16).
5. Remove the engine support hanger.
6. Remove the intake m a n i f o l d (see page 9-3).
7. Remove the six ignition coils (see page 4-22).
8. Remove the engine w i r e harness connectors and
w i r e harness clamps f r o m the cylinder head.
• Six injector connectors
• Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor 1
connector
• Engine coolant t e m p e r a t u r e (ECT) sensor 2
connector
• Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor connector
• Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve connector
• VTEC solenoid valve connector
• VTEC oil pressure switch connector
• Oil pressure switch connector
• T w o air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor connectors
• T w o secondary heated o x y g e n sensor
(secondary H02S) connectors
9. Remove the front w a r m up three w a y catalytic
converter (front WU-TWC) (see page 11-390) and
rear w a r m up three w a y catalytic converter (rear
WU-TWC) (see page 11-391).
