Troubleshooting

If the Multimedia Terminal does not function or
functions incorrectly, check the following.
Symptom
The power is not turned on.
The power is not turned off
with the Remote
Commander.
After turning on the power,
scanning the disk starts
No sound or the volume is
very low.
Picture is blurred.
No picture.
Does not connect with a
remote party.
Still pictures or the Phone
Book cannot be saved to the
"Memory Stick."
The "Memory Stick" is not
read.
The USB device is not
recognized.

Cause
The I/1 switch is not set to on.
The batteries in the Remote
Commander are low or dead.
The CONF/DOC/TV selector is not set
to "CONF."
This may occur when an unspecified
application is executed.
This may occur when turning off the
power while the unit runs.
The volume is too low.
The remote party has muted their
sound.
Audio input is not selected properly.
Manual focus is selected but picture
remains blurred.
When auto focus is selected, the
background is too bright, contrast is
too high, or the background or the
participants' clothes contain fine line
patterns.
The selected picture source is not
tuned on.
Video input is not selected properly.
The selected picture source is not
correctly connected to the system.
The unit has not been connected
properly to a digital line.
A voice meeting is held.
The terminal adaptor is not turned on
(if you have installed an optional
interface board).
The remote party has not been
registered in the system yet.
The write-protect tab on the "Memory
Stick" is set to LOCK.
The "Memory Stick" has already been
recorded to its full capacity.
This may occur when turning off the
power while the unit runs or disconnect
the Desktop Terminal cable.
This may occur when turning off the

Solution
Set the I/1 switch to on. See page 20.
Replace the batteries with new ones. See page 17.
Set the CONF/DOC/TV selector to "CONF."
Press and hold the I/1 switch on the Multimedia
Terminal Processor about six seconds to turn off the
power forcefully.
This is not a malfunction. Wait uniti the scanning disk
finishes.
Adjust the sound volume by pressing the VOLUME/
DOC-BRIGHT buttons on the Remote Commander.

Wait until the sound transmission from the remote
party resumes.
Set up Input Select properly. See page 39.
Adjust the focus. See page 72.
Select manual focus and adjust manually. See page
73.
Turn on the selected video equipment.
Select the video input with the VIDEO INPUT SELECT
button. See page 77.
Check the connection. See page 114.
If you have installed an optional V.35 Board or RS-449
Board, make sure the system is connected to an ISDN
outlet or a digital line outlet with the terminal adaptor.
See pages 15, 16 and 111.
This is not a malfunction.
Turn on the terminal adaptor.
Register the remote party. See page 61.
Set the tab to the writable position.
Use other "Memory Stick."
Turn off the power, then turn on again.
Turn off the power, then turn on again.
