Notes on Using Secondary Terminals

Notes on secondary terminals
during an ISDN Multipoint
Meeting
When a normal voice phone is connected
The audio mode of the other terminals in the meeting
is not influenced.
There is also no effect if a normal voice phone leaves
the meeting.
When a terminal has a different number of
lines from the Number of Lines setting in the
Multipoint Setup menu
The terminal becomes a secondary terminal.
A meeting held with secondary terminals is as follows:
• The secondary terminal sends and receives audio.
• The secondary terminal sends video, but cannot
receive video.
When a 56K terminal is connected to a
meeting setup for a 64k network
The system automatically changes the transfer rate to
56Kbps.
A terminal that cannot perform the rate changes
becomes a secondary terminal.
A meeting held with secondary terminals is as follows:
• The secondary terminal sends and receives audio.
• The secondary terminal sends video, but cannot
receive video.
When terminals with different audio mode and
video bit rates are connected
The system automatically changes the audio mode to
the one whose the terminal has the lowest video rate.
The slave terminal that cannot change the audio mode
becomes the secondary terminal.
The meeting with the secondary terminal is as follows:
• The secondary terminal sends and receives the audio.
• The secondary terminal sends video, but cannot
receive video.
When a lower video rate terminal is connected
The system broadcasts the picture to all the terminals
with the lowest frame rate in the network.
When a QCIF video mode terminal is
connected
The system does not broadcast the picture to the QCIF
terminal.

Chapter 3 Meetings With the Multi Points Function
When Video Mode is set to H.263
The H.263 mode is only available when all the
terminals are in H.263 mode. If there is a terminal in
H.261 mode, the meeting will be held in H.261 mode.
Notes on secondary terminals in
a Multipoint Meeting over a LAN
When terminals with different video mode are
connected
The video mode (H.263/H.261) used will be decided
based on that of the first terminal connected. If the
second and subsequent terminals connected do not
support the video mode selected, those terminals will
become audio terminals.
When terminals with the different audio mode
are connected
It will operate using that different audio mode.
When terminals on LANs with a lower
bandwidth are connected
The system automatically changes the slowest LAN
bandwidth.
