The Side Airbag Poses Serious

Risks to Children
On cars without passenger's side airbag
automatic cutoff system
Side airbags have been designed to
help protect adults in a moderate to
severe side impact.
If any part of a child's body is in the
path of a deploying airbag, an
inflating side airbag can strike the
child with enough force to kill or
very seriously injure a child.
To remind you of the side airbags
hazards, and that children must be
properly restrained in the back seat,
your car has the warning label on
each front doorjamb.
Leaning over the front door
can result in serious injury or
death if the side airbag
inflates.
Always sit upright with their
back against the seat-back.
Protecting Children
On cars with passenger's side airbag
automatic cutoff system
To help prevent injury by an inflating
side airbag, your car has an
automatic cutoff system for the
passenger's side airbag. Even if with
this system, Honda does not
encourage children to ride in the
front. To get the best protection
from the side airbag, children should
be properly restrained with their seat
belts, and sit upright and well back in
their seats. See page
71
for further
information on the passenger's side
airbag automatic cutoff system.
To remind you of the side airbags
hazards, your car also has the
warning label on each front
doorjamb.
