Head Maintenance/Tape Handling
The
record/playback
head, capstan
and pinch
roller are always in contact with the tape
when it is moving. If dust and dirt gathers on them (particularly on the heads), sound quality
will deteriorate or noise will remain, and sometimes faulty operation will occur, such as tape
entanglement etc.
Please clean these parts occasionally in order to preserve good recording and playback sound
quality.

Cotton swab
@Clean
the
heads,
capstan
and
pinch
roller with
commercially
available cotton swabs or with a soft
cloth
wound
around
a slender
object,
putting a
small
amount
of alcohol
on
the tip and
wiping
gently.
Cleaning the Exterior
Record/Haybacks head
Clean the exterior of this unit by moistening a soft cloth with a neutral detergent (or just
water if it is not too dirty), squeezing it until almost dry, and wiping gently. Never use thinner,
alcohol, benzine or similar chemical agents as these may damage the surface of the unit.

© Break out protection tabs of important cassette tapes
you want to preserve.
e Recording is not possible on tapes whose protection
tabs have been broken out. It is therefore impossible
to inadvertently erase such tapes.
e If you cover the holes again, you can record (or save
music data) on that tape once more.
Please take up tape slack before using a tape.
@ Take care not to touch the surface of the tape.
* Do not keep your cassette tapes in extremely hot or
humid place, or near any magnetic objects.
* 120-minute
tapes are very
thin
and
liable
to get
tangled. It is advisable not to use them.
