1 . C o n n e c t a S u n v A T - 4 0 ( o r
equivalent tester), ano lurn
the selector switch to Posilion
1 ( s t a n a n g ) .
2. Shift to neutral (A,/T in E or
E ) p o s i t i o n , a n d s t a r t t h e
e n g i n e . H o l d t h e e n g i n e a t
3,000 rpm with no load until
t h e r a d i a t o r f a n c o m e s o n ,
then let it idle.
3 . R a i s e t h e e n g i n e s P e e d t o
2,000 rpm, and hold it there.
ls the voltage ovor 15.1 V?

1. Felease the accelerator Pedal,
and let the engine idle.
2. Make sure all accessories are
turned off. Turn the selector
switch to position 2 (charging).
3. Remove the inductive Pick-uP,
and zero the ammeter,
4 . P l a c e t h e i n d u c t i v e P i c k - u P
over the battery groLrnd cable
so that the arrow points to the
baftery negative terminal.
5 . R a i s e t h e e n g i n e s p e e d t o
2,000 rpm, and hold it there
ls the voltage less than 13.5 V?
Alternator/Regulator Test-3:
Apply a load with a VAT-40 until
t h e b a t t e r y v o l t a g e d r o P s t o
between 12 -
'13.5 V.
