The Electron beam unit consists of the power
supply parts, located in the control cabinet, and
the column, located on top of the build chamber.
The electron beam is generated in the column.
The 6 6 0 0 k k V V voltage is generated by the HV unit
and transferred by a high voltage cable.
The high voltage supply is interlocked by door
switches and also by the vacuum level in the
chamber. The opening of back doors of the ma-
chine or failure to maintain the vacuum level
shuts down the high voltage (HV) supply.
The high voltage supply (6 6 0 0 k k V V ) consists of two
units:
• The Beam Control Unit (1)
• The High Voltage Unit (2)
The Beam Control Unit is fitted with a fuse which is
located on the front of the rack.
The High Voltage Unit holds the high voltage trans-
former and generates the high voltage power of
60 kV.
