The main component of the column system is the
turbo pump with the capacity to pump down the
column to very high vacuum.
A vacuum sensor feeds the EBM Control with the
actual pressure.
The Arcam EBM machine uses inert gas to keep a
steady level of vacuum during the build process
and for cooling the build.
The inert gas is also used to speed up cooling of
the build, when melting is completed. The process
is developed for use with pure Helium.
A safety circuit will shut down the Inert gas inlet in
case of a feed line pressure drop. This to ensure
that no oxygen can reach the process.
