OfficeServ 7400
TECHNICAL MANUAL
PLEASE NOTE: The PLIM module uses the -48V rail from the OS7400 power supply to provide
power to connected devices over Ethernet. The OS7400 power supply provides up to
6600mA of output current. PER EACH OS7400 CABINET (not per system), the SUM of all
current drawn from 1) devices powered by PLIM cards, 2) digital key sets connected to
DLI ports 3) analog devices connected to SLI ports 4) devices powered by the GPLIMs 5)
the GWIM, GSIM and GPLIM cards themselves cannot exceed 6600mA. Refer to the
OfficeServ 7150 section in this manual for a listing of individual component current draw ratings.
IF ADDING PLIM CONNECTED DEVICES CAUSES THE TOTAL CURRENT DRAWN TO EXCEED
6600mA PER CABINET (not per system), THEN YOU MUST CONNECT THE OS7150 EXTERNAL
PoE POWER SUPPLY MODULE to the cabinet. This unit can provide additional power to PoE
devices connected to PLIMs and GPLIMs when the OS7400 power supply limits have been
exceeded.
Please refer to Section 5.3, CONNECTING THE OS7150 EXTERNAL PoE PSU
SUPPLEMENTAL POWER SUPPLY for further information.
It is important to note that the OS7150 can only provide additional power to the PLIM, GPLIM,
GWIM/GWIMT and GSIM. The OS7150 is used when the GSIM, GWIM or PoE devices connected
to GPLIM/PLIM causes the total current draw per cabinet to exceed 6600mA. It does not
provide power to DLI ports, MWSLI ports and other system interface cards.
To force the PLIM to get power from the external OS7150 PoE unit, you must connect shunt
pins 2 and 3 for each jumper J1, J2, and J3. Shunt pins 1 and 2 are connected at factory
default (this setting causes the PLIM to get power from the internal OS7400 power supply).
