TECHNICAL MANUAL
4) The above steps 2~3 also apply to installing the LP40 board to slot 0 each cabinet.
3.2.3 Connecting MP40 Board to LP40 Board
If the OfficeServ 7400 system consists of a main cabinet and up to two expansion cabinets,
connect the MP40 board to each LP40 board located in the expansion cabinets using link
cables. The LP40 in the main cabinet does NOT require a link cable connection. These cables
are used to transmit and receive signals between the control boards. If the expansion
cabinets are OfficeServ 7200 cabinets, then connect the MP40 to the OS7200 LCP card using
the link cables. The link cables are supplied with each LP40 or LCP card.
1) The LP40 three-link cable is needed to connect the MP40 board to the LP40 board. It is
included in the LP40 carton.
2) Each LP40 link cable is composed of a 3-cable bundle. The cables are labeled "1", "2", and
"3". Connect cable 1 between MP40 port labeled "LINK21" to port "LINK1" of the LP40 in
cabinet 2. Connect cable 2 between MP40 port labeled "LINK22" to port "LINK2" of the
LP40 in cabinet 2. Connect cable 3 between MP40 port labeled "LINK23" to port "LINK3" of
the LP40 in cabinet 2. Repeat this procedure for connecting cabinet 3 by connecting
another LP40 link cable from the MP40 ports LINK31, LINK32, and LINK33 to LP40 ports
LINK1, LINK2, and LINK3 in the expansion cabinet 3.
