Conventional Brake Components
Rear Brake Shoe Replacement (cont'd)
6. Remove the brake shoe lower ends from the
anchor by expanding the bottom ends of the brake
shoes (A) equally.

7. Remove the lower return spring (B).
8. Expand the top of the brake shoes equally, and
remove them from the wheel cylinder. Do not let
the piston push into the cylinder, and be careful not
to damage the boots during removal.
9. Remove the upper return spring (C), adjuster bolt
(D), self-adjuster spring (E), and lever (F), and
separate the brake shoes.
10. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the
parking brake lever (G), and remove the brake
shoes.
11. Remove the brake shoe (A) by removing the U-clip
(B).

12. Apply Molykote 44MA grease to the sliding surface
of the pivot pin (A), and insert the pin into the
parking brake shoes.

13. Install the parking brake lever (B) on the pivot pin,
and secure with a new U-clip (C). Pinch the U-clip
securely to prevent the pivot pin from coming out
of the brake shoe.
14. Apply Molykote 44MA grease on each sliding
surface shown. Wipe off any excess. Do not get
grease on the brake linings.
