Radiator and Condenser Fan Circuit Troubleshooting A

NOTE: Refer to the symptom troubleshooting index
before troubleshooting.
1. Check the No. 57 (30A) fuse in the under-hood
fuse/relay box.
Is the f use OK ?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Check for a short in the wire between the
radiator fan relay, radiator fan motor and fan
control relay, condenser fan motor or a faulty fan
motor.
2. Remove the radiator fan relay from the under-hood
fuse/relay box and test it (see page 22-88).
Is the relay OK ?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace radiator fan relay.
3. Measure the voltage between radiator fan relay 4P
socket terminal No. 1 and body ground.
RADIATOR FAN RELAY 4P SOCKET
Terminal side of female terminals
Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.

4. Connect a jumper wire between radiator fan relay
4P socket terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

Terminal side of female terminals
Does the radiator f an run?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Go to step 7.
5. Disconnect the jumper wire, and turn the ignition
switch ON (II).
6. Measure the voltage between radiator fan relay 4P
socket terminal No. 4 and body ground.
RADIATOR FAN RELAY 4P SOCKET
Terminal side of female terminals
Is there battery voltage?
YES
Repair an open in the wire between the
radiator fan relay and the A/C pressure switch.
NO
Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.
