KEYBOARD TYPEWRITER
CONSOLE
This section describes the functions, character­
istics, operating procedures, programming consid­
erations, and normal operator maintenance of the
TWU9101 Keyboard Typewriter Console (see
Figure 8-1).
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The TWU91 01 meets the needs of users with
heavy demands for console input and output
through the Central Processor.
The TWU91 0 1 console interfaces with the
Level 6 system by means of a single-board
Multiple Device Controller (MDC91Ol), a console
Device-Pac (KCM910l), and a 50-foot cable.
The console is capable of printing up to 30
characters per second and provides 132 print
positions for the 64-character ASCII code set.
Each character printed by the impact print
head is formed by a 7 by 9 dot matrix.
The device can accommodate variable fan-fold
paper forms in widths of from 4 to 15 inches and
can print 1 original and up to 4 copies. Horizontal
spacing is 10 characters per inch; vertical spacing
is 6 lines per inch.
The device is intended as the primary input/
output device for communication to and from the
system.
OPERATION
The following are the detailed operating pro­
cedures and specific user considerations for oper­
ating the TWU9101 Keyboard Typewriter Con­
sole (see Figure 8-2 for Controls and Indicators).
Power ON/OFF
ON Pushbutton
Pressing the ON pushbutton applies power to
the device.
OFF Pushbutton
Pressing the OFF pushbutton removes power
from the device.
