2.5.2

INTERFERENCE CHECK

A. Operate the system on all functions and check that this does not affect other electronic
equipment in the aircraft.
B. Operate the system on all functions and check that it is not affected by any of the functions
of the other electronic or electrical equipment in the aircraft.
C. Upon successful completion of the foregoing post-installation tests, install the radome pre-
paratory to preflight checkout of the system.
2.5.3

PREFLIGHT CHECK

A. Energize the radar bus and vertical gyro reference bus. Ensure that +28 Vdc and the 400
Hz, 5 kHz power (10, 26, or 115 Vac), 14/28 VP-P or ARINC 429 stabilization inputs are
being supplied to the system. Check that the vertical (stabilization) gyro is erected. Allow
the gyro a minimum of 3 minutes to erect and stabilize before commencing with the align-
ment.
B. Vary the external panel lighting voltage (dim control) for maximum panel brightness. Cov-
er the indicator mask and check the white panel markings for even light distribution. Re-
duce the lighting voltage. The panel lighting should dim.
C. Set the radar indicator or radar control panel function switch to TST. The antenna scans
in the TEST mode.
D. Set the brightness (BRT) control to midrange; set the antenna control to any tilt position
with antenna stabilization on. The range will be automatically set to 80 miles.
E. The test pattern should appear on the indicator screen. Adjust BRT again, as required.

WARNING
WHENEVER THE FUNCTION SWITCH IS IN THE
"ON" POSITION, RF ENERGY IS BEING RADIAT-
ED. DO NOT ALLOW PERSONNEL TO STAND
WITHIN 15 FEET OF THE AREA BEING SCANNED
BY THE ANTENNA. TESTS INVOLVING THE RA-
DIATION OF RF ENERGY MUST NOT BE MADE IN
THE
VICINITY OF REFUELING OPERATIONS.
ALWAYS USE "TEST" OR "STANDBY" POSI-
TIONS, AS APPLICABLE.
The preflight check assumes the system has suc-
cessfully completed post-installation check, that the
aircraft is pointed toward a non-reflective area, and
that fuel trucks or personnel are not close to the ra-
dar line-of-sight.
