CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE USING RADAR INDICATOR

If the system is installed in a radar indicator or KMD 850 MFD refer to

ration Module Programmer Kit (Part Number 050-03311-0000) in conjunction with a personal
computer. Follow the instructions for the programmer.The following guidelines will help insure
correct configuration of the CM 2000 module.
1. Make sure the 9v radio battery in the KPA-900 is fully charged and that the KPA-
900 is connected to your PC printer port.
2. The DOS program wil only work with Windows up to 98 version, it will not work
with later windows software or windows NT.
3. Boot up your PC in DOS and work solely in DOS using the 3.5" floppy.
4. When you have entered the configuration page, go to Hardware, and select
write. This puts "default" settings into the Config Module.

Go to Memory and select View. Select each Item and ensure a check mark
appears to the left of that item. If you do not have EFIS ignore the EFIS items.

When you have selected all items required, depress the "Esc" button on your
PC keyboard.

Go to Hardware and select write. When the program has finished writing and
verified itself, select Exit.
8.
Remove config module from KPA-900 and install it to the aircraft.
Note: For antenna clearance check and radar stabili-
zation using the KMD 550, refer to the KMD 550/850
The following steps are performed by utilizing the GAIN knob, RANGE buttons and the mode but-
tons on the radar indicator.
2.4.1.1
Antenna Clearance Check
Enter the maintenance mode by performing Steps A and B.
A. Set the radar function selector to TEST. Turn the GAIN knob to minimum.
B. Set the antenna tilt to full up and select 240 NM range.
C. Simultaneously press the Wx and WxA or Wx/WxA and VP buttons (depending on which
indicator is in the system) to display the maintenance menu.
D. Press the RANGE UP button to display the RT CALIBRATION DATA page. See
E. Upon display of the RT CALIBRATION DATA page with the system in calibration mode, all
fault fields will flash briefly. This verifies calibration mode is entered. XMITTER should be
the only fault displayed. If other faults are shown, further investigation is necessary.
F. Rotate the GAIN knob to obtain a value of -26.5 to -28 in the GAIN POT %2 field. This will
initiate the antenna clearance scan. The antenna will move to each of the extreme posi-
tions to determine that there is no interference with antenna movement and all scan motors
are working properly.
