Fuel
CAUTION:
This saw is powered by petroleum products (gasoline
(petrol) and oil).
Be e specially c areful w hen h andling g asoline ( petrol).
Do not smoke. Do not allow gasoline to come near flames,
sparks o r fi re ( explosion h azard).
Fuel m ixture
This tool is powered by a high-­performance air-­cooled
two-­stroke engine. I t r uns o n a m ixture o f g asoline a nd t wo-­
stroke engine oil.
The engine is designed for unleaded regular gasoline with
a min. octane value of 91 (R+M)/2. In case no such fuel is
available, y ou c an u se f uel w ith a h igher o ctane v alue. T his
will n ot a ffect t he e ngine.
In order to obtain an optimum engine output and to
protect y our h ealth a nd t he e nvironment u se u nleaded
fuel o nly.
To lubricate the engine, use a synthetic oil for two-­stroke
air-­cooled engines (quality g rade: J ASO F C o r I SO-­L-­EGD),
which has to be added to the fuel. The engine has been
designed f or u se o f M AKITA s ynthetic t wo-­stroke e ngine o il
and a m ixture r atio o f O NLY 5 0:1 t o p rotect t he e nvironment.
In a ddition, a l ong s ervice l ife a nd r eliable o peration w ith a
minimum emission of exhaust gases are ensured.

In c ase M AKITA s ynthetic t wo-­stroke e ngine o il i s n ot a vailable,
it is recommended to use a mixture ratio of 50:1 with other
synthetic t wo-­stroke e ngine o ils, a s o therwise o ptimum o pera-­
tion o f t he e ngine c annot b e g uaranteed.
The c orrect m ixture r atio:
50:1 when u sing M AKITA s ynthetic t wo-­stroke e ngine o il,
i.e. mix 50 parts gasoline with 1 part oil.
50:1 when using other synthetic two-­stroke engine oils
(quality grade JASO FC or ISO-­L-­EGD), i.e. mix 50
parts gasoline with 1 part oil.
NOTE:
For p reparing t he f uel-­oil m ixture fi rst m ix t he e ntire o il q uan-­
tity w ith h alf o f t he f uel r equired, t hen a dd t he r emaining f uel.
Thoroughly s hake t he m ixture b efore fi lling i t i nto t he c hain
saw tank.
Chain o il
Use a n o il w ith a dhesive a dditive f or l ubricating t he c hain a nd
guide b ar. T he a dhesive a dditive p revents t he o il f rom b eing
flung o ff t he c hain t oo q uickly.
We r ecommend t he u se o f c hain o il w hich i s b io-­degradable
in o rder t o p rotect t he e nvironment. The u se o f b io-­degradable
oil m ay e ven b e r equired b y l ocal r egulations.
The chain oil BIOTOP sold by MAKITA is made of special
vegetable oils and is 100% bio-­degradable. BIOTOP has
been g ranted t he " blue a ngel" ( Blauer U mweltschutz-­Engel)
for b eing p articularly e nvironment-­friendly ( RAL U Z 4 8).

production o f c ombustion r esidues w hich w ill p ollute
the environment and clog the exhaust channel in the
cylinder as well as the muffler. In addition, fuel consump-­
tion w ill r ise a nd p erformance w ill d ecrease.
Storage:
Fuels have a limited storage life. Fuel and fuel mixtures
age through evaporation, especially at high temperatures.
Aged fuel and fuel mixtures can cause starting problems
and damage the engine. Purchase only that amount of fuel,
which w ill b e c onsumed o ver t he n ext f ew m onths. A t h igh
temperatures, o nce f uel h as b een m ixed i t s hould b e u sed
up i n 6 -­8 w eeks.
Use o nly a pproved a nd m arked c ontainers f or t ransport
and storage. Store fuel only in dry, cool and secure
locations!
AVOID S KIN A ND E YE C ONTACT
Mineral oil products degrease your skin. If your skin comes in
contact w ith t hese s ubstances r epeatedly a nd f or a n e xtended
period of time, it will desiccate. Various skin deseases may
result. In addition, allergic reactions are known to occur.
Eyes c an b e i rritated b y c ontact w ith o il. I f o il c omes i nto y our
eyes, immediately wash them with clear water.
If your eyes are still irritated, see a doctor immediately!
