9.7 Configuring the system power supply

Assigning IP addresses (device addresses)/system IP addresses of the virtual W1 interface of the
R/H-CPUs
You may assign an IP address/system IP address to the W1 virtual interface of the R/H-CPU.
The communication partners that you connected to the CPs then communicate with the
R/H-CPU via these IP addresses.
To change the device/system IP address of the W1 virtual interface of the R/H-CPUs, follow
these steps:
1. In the device view, select the CPU on rail_0.
2. In the inspector window, navigate to "Advanced configuration > Access to PLC via
communication module".
3. Select the required CP from the "Select communications module" selection list in the "Assign
interface [W1]" section.
After selection, a warning message appears to inform you of possible risks associated with
this setting. If you confirm the warning message, the configuration options for the W1
virtual interface are displayed.
4. Navigate to the "Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4)" area.
5. Accept the suggestion or assign a new IP address.
6. Navigate to the "System IP address for switched communication" area.
7. Select the option "Enable the system IP address for switched communication".
8. Accept the suggestion or assign a new system IP address (and virtual MAC address).
9. The R/H-CPU on rail_1 automatically adopts the settings.
Result: You have assigned a CP 1543-1 to the W1 virtual interface and configured the
device/system IP address.

Configuring the system power supply
Introduction
There are three options for the infeed of the required system voltage in the backplane bus:
• Infeed via the R/H-CPU
• Infeed via the R/H-CPU and system power supply
• Infeed via the system power supply only
– R-CPUs: on slot 0
– H-CPUs with active backplane bus: from slot 2
Requirements
If you use the system power supply with the H-CPUs, then you need an active backplane bus.
