Basic procedure for configuring the IO devices and the MRP roles

Introduction
The configuration of the IO devices in a S7-1500R/H redundant system is basically the same
for S7-1500R and S7-1500H. The configuration differs slightly according to the configuration
variants of the redundant system (PROFINET ring, line topology, combined topology) and the
S1, R1 and S2 IO device types used.
The following section guides you through the configuration with two IO devices (ET 200MP
and ET 200SP) as an example.
The differences in settings and rules are summarized compactly at the end of the section.
The procedure to configure H-CPUs with R1 devices in PROFINET rings differs from the basic
procedure. You will find the description in a separate section (Page 297).
Requirements
The configuration detailed assumes that:
• You have configured the R/H CPUs. For more information, refer to the section Configuring
R/H CPUs (Page 289).
1. Creating IO devices
To create two IO devices in the redundant system, follow these steps:
1. Switch to the network view.
2. Drag an IO device from the hardware catalog, e.g., the interface module IM 155-5 PN HF,
into the working window.
3. Drag the required modules to the corresponding slots in the IO device.
4. Select the second IO device, e.g. IM 155-6 PN HF, in the same way.
5. Assign the required modules.
2. Assigning IO devices to the redundant system
To assign IO devices to the redundant system, connect every IO device to each CPU.
To do so, proceed as follows:
1. Drag-and-drop a line between the PROFINET interface of IM 155-5 PN HF and PROFINET
interface X1 of the left CPU.
2. Drag-and-drop a line between the PROFINET interface of IM 155-5 PN HF and PROFINET
interface X1 of the right CPU.
3. Assign the second IO device (IM 155-6 PN HF) to the two CPUs in exactly the same way. Set
the watchdog timer for the second IO device.
