FIRE HAZARD: Wipegreaseand heavysoil from the
ovenbottom beforeself-cleaning. F ailureto do so
may result in an ovenfire.
Werecommendventingyour kitchenwith an open
windowor usinga ventilationfan or hood duringthe
firstself-cleancycle.
Remove any broilerpan,broilergrid,probe,all
cookwareand anyaluminumfoilfrom the oven.
NOTE:
If yourovenisequippedwith shiny,silver-colored
ovenracks, r emovethem beforeyou beginthe
self-clean cycle.
Theshiny,silver-colored ovenracks(onsome
models) canbe self-cleaned, b utthey will darken,
losetheirlusterand becomehard to slide.
If yourovenisequippedwith grayporcelain-
coatedovenracks, t hey may be leftin the oven
duringthe self-clean cycle.
Soilon the front flame of the rangeand outside
the gasketon the door willneedto be cleanedby
hand.Cleantheseareaswith hotwater,soap-filled
steel-wool p adsor cleanserssuchasSoftScrub _.
Rinse wellwith cleanwater and dry.
Donot cleanthegasket.Thefiberglassmaterialof
the ovendoor gasketcannot withstandabrasion, i t is
essential f or the gasketto remainintact.If you notice
it becomingworn or flayed, replaceit.
Hake surethe ovenlightbulb coveris in placeand
the ovenlightisoff.
IMPORTANT: Thehealthof somebirdsisextremely
sensitive to the fumesgivenoff duringthe self-
cleaningcycleof any range.Hovebirdsto another
well-ventilated room.
DoubleOvenand CanadianModelsOnly:
Thesurfaceunitsare automaticallydisabledduring
the self-clean cycle.Hake surethat all surface
unit controlsareturnedoff at alltimesduringthe
self-cleancycle. A nysurfaceunit that isset to an
"on"positionwhilethe self-clean cycleisoperating
willautomaticallycomeon after the self-cleancycle
isfinished,and couldresultin an "on"unattended
surfaceunit.Wait untilthe self-cleancycleisfinished
to set and usethe surfaceunits.

How to Set the Oven for Cleaning
Theovendoorsmustbe dosedandall controls set
correctly for thecycleto workproperly.

A S-hourself-clean time isrecommended for
usewhencleaningsmall,containedspills. A
self-cleantime of 5 hoursisrecommended for
a dirtieroven.

If a time otherthan 5 hoursor ] hoursis
needed,usethe number padsand enterthe
desiredcleantime.
Youcanchangethe cleantime to anytime between
3 hoursand 5 hours,dependingon how dirtyyour
ovenis.

Theupperand lowerovendoorslockautomatically.
Thecooktopelementsare alsolockedout during
self-clean. T hedisplay will showthe cleantime
remaining. I t willnot be possible to openthe oven
doorsor usethecooktopuntilthe temperaturedrops
belowthe locktemperatureand LOCKEDIDOOR
goesoff in the controldisplay.
WhenLOCKED/DOOR 1 5 goesoff,you will be able
to open thedoors.
ThewordLOCKED/DOOR i_ will flash andthe
word door willdisplayifyou set the cleancycle
andforget to closethe ovendoors.
Tostop a cleancycle,touch the CLEAR/OFF pad.
WhenLOCKED/DOOR i l goesoff,indicatingthe
ovenshavecooledbelowthe lockingtemperature,
you will beable to open thedoors.
Double Ovens:
iii:Youcan set a cleancyclein bothovensat the
sametime;however,they will notself-cleanat the
sametime.Thelastovenset willautomatically
delayits start untilthe end ofthe first oven'sclean
cycle.
iii:Whenan ovenis setto self-clean, b oth ovendoors
will lockand the cooktopcontrolswill lockout.The
ovensand cooktopcannot be usedwhen an oven
isset to self-clean.
