Chapter 10
To clear CMOS using the jumper setting follow these steps:
1. Power down the server by pressing and holding the Power button on the
Front Control Panel. You may have to hold the Power button down for
several seconds.
2. Unplug the server's power cords from the system and remove them from
the server.
3. Pull the server out of the rack as far as possible to gain access to the rear
part of the top cover.
WARNING
Make sure that the rack is anchored securely, so it will not tip
when the server is extended on the rails.
Use a screwdriver tip to push in the lock tabs on the rack
slides to prevent pinching your fingers.
4. Loosen the two top cover thumbscrews at the rear of the chassis and lift
open the rear access panel.
5. Remove the screw that secures the non-hot plug PCI I/O Cover and rotate
the cover up.
6. Remove the Legacy I/O board from the system by following the procedure
described in the Chapter 8 section, "Removing the Legacy I/O Board".
7. Reposition the jumper on jumper block J7A1 so that it spans pins five and
six as shown in Appendix A Figure A-17. For a location of the jumper
block J7A1, see Figure A-14.
8. Install the Legacy I/O board by following the procedure described in the
Chapter 8 section, "Installing the Legacy I/O Board".
9. Reinstall the server's power cords and plug them into the power source.
10. Power on the server.
11. Wait for messages to appear on the screen that indicate that non-volatile
RAM has been cleared: NVRAM cleared by jumper.
After you clear CMOS, you must restore the jumper setting and restart the
server. Follow these steps to return the jumper to the parked position and
reboot the system.
