BRAKE FLUID
I
NOTICE
Spilled fluid can damage painted, plastic or rubber
parts. Place a rag over these parts whenever the
system
is
serviced.
•
Do
not
mix different types of fluid, as they are
not
compatible with each other.
•
Do not allow
foreign
material to enter the
system
when
filling the reservoir.
FLUID LEVEL INSPECTION
When the
flu
id level is low, check
the brake
pads for
wear
(pa
ge
4-30), A low
flu
id
level may be due to
wear of the brake
pads.
If the brake pads are
worn,
the caliper piston is pushed
out,
and
th
is accounts
for a low reservoir level.
If the brake pads are not worn and the fluid
level
is
low,
check the entire system fo
r
leaks
(page
4-29).
FRONT
BRAKE:
Turn
th
e
handlebar so
that
the reservoir

check
the
brake pad
wear (page
4-30),
REAR
BRAKE:
Support the motorcycle
in an
upright position
on
a
r--
