Troubleshooting Guidelines
Procedures are discussed at length in the following pages; however, there are
certain guidelines that should be followed for all troubleshooting problems:
1.
Listen and observe.
2.
Locate the problem.
3.
Identify problem as electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic.
4.
Determine symptoms through observations.
5.
Think and act with caution and clear thinking.
6.
List short-term and long-term solutions.
7.
Select a solution or possible solutions.
8.
Implement and document one solution at a time.

Troubleshooting Problems and Solutions
Basic troubleshooting provisions are outlined below. For additional information on
corrective procedures referenced, see the appropriate category in the Maintenance
or Conveyor Installation sections of this manual.
Do not clear jams or reach into any unit before first turning off the equipment
power source(s) and making certain that all moving parts are fully stopped. To
avoid personal injury or equipment damage, Lockout/Tagout the conveyor power
before attempting to correct any malfunction.
