Reassembly
l.
Assemble
the
piston to the
sm
all
end
of
the
connecting
rod.
Only a slight hand pressure
should
be
required to
insert
the
piston pin.
A
lwa
ys
install
a
new piston
pin clip
.
NOTE,
a. Cover the
crankcase wi
th
a rag
to
prevent
possibility of the pin clip from
dropping
into
the
crankcase.
b.
Set
the
clip
so that the
opening
is away from
the
groove
cutout.

c. The
piston must be
assembled
so that the
"E "
stamped
on the piston
hea
J
is
toward
the
top
when the
engine is
in
the
normal attitude.

2.
Install
the
piston rings
on
the
piston
in
the
reverse order of
disassembly.
The
bot
tom
oil
ring
must
be
installed
first.
NOTE:
a. When new piston ring is
installed,
a
check
should
be made to
assu
re
that the ring
fits
freely in the groove.
This can be
done by
rolling
the piston
ring
externally
in
the piston
groove
.
