Field Expandable Wireless IO

Overview

Field Expandable Wireless IO (FEWIO) is an innovative solution aimed to provide a method
for integrating legacy Modbus devices into OneWireless system. FDAP is configured in a
way that it can be used as an expandable wireless device that extracts the data from legacy
Modbus devices, wirelessly. This is a licensed feature.
Typically, in a plant there are thousands of legacy wired Modbus devices and managing
(monitoring, viewing, accessing data) them is a mammoth task. To wirelessly enable this,
you can use the FEWIO solution. This solution gives huge cost savings (no wiring, switches
are required) and makes the data easily accessible.
You can connect multiple Modbus devices to OneWireless network using the FDAP. The
FDAP changes its role to FEWIO and extracts the data from Modbus (RTU/TCP) slave
devices and converts it into the ISA100 environment. The legacy devices are connected to
the FDAP using the RS-485 protocol or TCP/IP. The collected data in WDM can be
accessed by SCADA or any other third-party applications.
FDAP acting as a field router can only be converted to FEWIO.
