Image problems

Error symptom
An appropriate image does
not appear
Light leaks on the image
The image appears misty
Unevenness appears on
the image
Shadow bands appear
when using White Epi
imaging in the upper tray

Possible cause
An image is overexposed
and saturated
An image is underexposed
The focus is not correctly
adjusted
The tray, or window cover-
ing the light source are
dirty
The wrong sample tray is
used
The wrong light source is
selected
The size of the object ex-
posed does not coincide
with the exposed area
The door to the instrument
is not completely closed
The instrument is exposed
to direct sunlight
Moisture is condensing in
the optical system
The LED is deteriorated
from age
Position of White Epi light
source relative to the gel
lanes
Corrective action
Set a lower binning or reduce the exposure
time
Prolong the exposure time
Adjust the focus temporarily. See
focus, on page 16
If the problem persists contact your GE
Healthcare representative
Clean the tray or the window covering the
light source
Change to the correct sample tray, see

Select the correct light source, see

Place the sample correctly on the sample
tray and place the tray in the correct tray
position
Close the door to the instrument and ex-
pose the image again
Move the instrument to a place that is not
in direct sunlight
Turn off the instrument and wait until the
ambient environments meets the specifica-
tions
Turn off the instrument and contact your
GE Healthcare representative
Rotate the gel sample 90° positioning the
gel so that the lanes of the gel are parallel
to the long side of the tray
