KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler Mounting Location
Refer to

and Mounting" , "Figure 2024 - KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler Single Vertical
Outline and Mounting" , "Figure 2025 - KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler Dual

The location of the KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler is critical. It must be located
very close to the feedpoint of the antenna or the antenna feed-through
insulator. In order to maximize the efficiency of the HF system, it is desirable to
keep the length of the feedline less than 12 inches, if possible. The feedline
should not exceed 24 inches, including the connector length. Lengths in excess
of 24 inches can create significant operational difficulties.
NOTE: Due to the high level of RF voltage the KHF 1050 system is capable of
generating, only a specially fabricated Honeywell feedline may be
used. Refer to Paragraph
for appropriate part numbers.
The KAC 1052 must be mounted in a location that will allow it to be well bonded
to the airframe. See Paragraph
bonding considerations.
For best reliability, the KAC 1052 should be mounted such that it is not
subjected to excessive vibration or heat.
The KAC 1052 can be mounted at any angle. Either a vertical mounting tray or
a horizontal mounting tray can be used to attach the KAC 1052 to any flat
surface in a fixed wing application. In helicopter applications only the helicopter
mounting tray, which is a horizontal configuration, may be used.
5.B.(2)
KPA 1052 Power Amplifier Mounting Location
Refer to
"Figure 2027 - KPA 1052 Power Amplifier Outline and Mounting"
mounting dimensions.
The location of the KPA 1052 is generally not critical. It is recommended that it
be mounted near the KAC 1052, to minimize loss in the coaxial cable
interconnecting the KPA 1052 and the KAC 1052.
The cable length between the KPA 1052 and the KAC 1052 should not exceed
50 feet.
