10.C.(4) Checking the Software Revision Level and Antenna Coupler Pressure
The Maintenance Program can be used to check the pressure in the antenna
coupler, which is measured on an annual basis. Also, the revision levels of the
software in the KRX 1053 and KAC 1052 can be verified by this Maintenance
Program.
10.C.(5) Connection to a Personal Computer
Using a personal computer with an RS-232 port, a connection can be made to
the KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler to access the maintenance information of the
KAC 1052. Or, a connection can be made to the KRX 1053 Receiver/Exciter to
monitor maintenance information, or to adjust certain setup parameters. The
KPA 1052 Power Amplifier does not have provisions for RS-232 interface.
Faults generated in the KPA 1052 are recorded in the KAC 1052.
Connection to the KRX 1053 Receiver/Exciter's RS232 pins (J10531, pins 33
and 75) is made through an installation-provided connector that can be built into
the aircraft harness or test-bench harness. Honeywell recommends that a
033-00230-0000 connector be installed in the aircraft harness or test bench
harness, and that a 155-02794-0001 cable assembly be used between the KRX
1053 and the PC. It is important to note that pin 78 on the KRX 1053 connector
J10531 must be grounded to operate with the Maintenance Program with the
KRX 1053, then ungrounded for normal radio operation. The 155-02794-0001
cable assembly provides this grounding function. This same cable can be used
for updating the software in the KRX 1053, and for reading fault information
stored in the Receiver/Exciter. See
The connection between the PC and the KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler's TEST
connector (J10522) can be made with a null-modem cable (9-pin female to
9-pin female). This cable would be used for reading the fault information stored
in the KAC 1052. Additionally, this same cable can be used for updating the
software in the KAC 1052, if required.
Com Port Select: The Maintenance Program can operate off either serial com
ports of a personal computer, or off the USB ports if using a USB-Serial
adapter. The default port is Com 1. The RS-232 parameters are fixed by the
program so as to be compatible with the KHF 1050 system.
