6.B.
KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler Installation
6.B.(1)
General
Select a mounting location for the KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler, referring to
Paragraph
6.B.(2)
Power Requirements
The KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler will operate from a 28 Vdc power supply. The
unit must be connected to the aircraft power supply with a circuit breaker with
not less than 5 Amp rating.
6.B.(3)
Grounding Requirements
NOTE: The importance of properly bonding the KAC 1052 Antenna coupler to
the airframe can not be over emphasized.
NOTE: Except for the ground provided by the feedline coax shield, bonding
should not be done with braided wire but with solid conductive straps,
typically one inch wide.
Good RF bonding of the KAC 1052 Antenna Coupler to aircraft metal structure
is basic in achieving maximum efficiency from the system and eliminating any
possible interference to other systems in the aircraft. See Paragraph
Electrical Bonding Connections"
6.B.(4)
Procedure
After a location has been selected, mark the location of the four mounting
screws.
Note:
Helicopter applications will require the marking of eight mounting
screw locations.
Drill four (or eight) #8 holes.
Mount the tray to the mounting surface with four (or eight) # 8-32 fasteners
and lock nuts.
With the mounting tray secured, locate a point on the airframe structure near
the antenna feedthru for attaching a unit-to-airframe ground strap. Drill two
#6 holes, clean and apply Alodine per Paragraph
Connections"
