10.A. System Maintenance Recommendations
10.A.(1) General
Perform a system performance check when a component of the system is
replaced or installed.
To confirm satisfactory system operation a system performance test may be
performed as required.
After major aircraft maintenance cycles a system performance check should be
performed.
10.A.(2) KAC 1052 Pressurization
The RF matching networks in the KAC 1052 can develop RF voltages in excess
of 3000 volts with some antennas at a 200 W power level. Such high voltages
could cause arcing internal to the antenna coupler in high-altitude
environments. To prevent such arcing, the KAC 1052 is normally pressurized
with nitrogen.
On an annual basis, the pressure of the KAC 1052 should be measured at the
valve adjacent to J10522 using a precision gauge, or by using the KAC 1052
Maintenance Program. If below 8 psig, add nitrogen to bring the pressure up to
8 to 10 psig (55 - 69 kPa gauge). Reference
