6. Release the rail compression lever to seat the tabs in the rack post.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for the other rail.

Preparing the Server for Rack Installation

To prepare the server for rack installation:

Attach the server rails
•
Remove the power supplies
Attaching the Server Rails
To attach the server rails on the ProLiant DL580 Generation 2 server:
IMPORTANT: Install the server rails with the smooth side of the rail against the server
chassis.
1. Align the four keyholes on one of the server rails above the four spools on the
side of the chassis.
2. Press the rail against the side of the chassis and slide toward the front of the
server to snap and lock the rail into place.
