Always read the material safety data sheets (MSDS) for the powder used.

Usage of other powder or particle size than recommended (45 to 105 microns) can lead to an in-
creased risk of explosion.

Risk of dust explosions!
Keep the powder away from combustible material. Metal powder and its dust (fine grades
<45 microns), especially if handled hot, is a potential risk of explosion and fire.
Parts of the Arcam EBM System (PRS and vacuum cleaners) will hold potential explosive frac-
tions (fine grades <45 microns) of metal powders in their filter areas.
Equipment within the Arcam EBM System exposed to such dangers has been build according to
ATEX demands.

Risk of dust explosions!
The PRS (powder recovery system) collects metal dust (fine grades <45 microns) in a barrel.
Handle the metal dust with care.
If the barrel is overfilled, do not pour the metal dust, but use a scoop and gently put into a new
barrel. Seal the barrels with a lid. Dispose of the fine dust in accordance with your local disposal
regulations. Contact your local disposal authority for advice.
The barrel is annually replaced by the Arcam Field Service Engineers (FSE) during the FSE Pre-
ventive Maintenance (FSE PM). If necessary to replace the barrel more often, order empty bar-
rels P/N 422348 from order@arcam.com.

Do not handle metal powder at elevated temperatures. This will increase the risk of dust explo-
sions and rapid oxidation of the powder.

The metal powder may cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled.
Causes damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. Harmful to aquatic life with
long lasting effects. Do not inhale dust and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
If experiencing respiratory symptoms, call a POISON CENTRE or doctor/physician.
